At its Sept. 10 workshop, the Holly Springs Town Council discussed yard waste services, strategy for funding non-bond transportation projects and more.
As part of the discussion on yard waste and leaf collection operations, council members emphasized the importance of separating types of yard waste for curbside collection. Different trucks collect different types of yard waste. The vacuum truck that collects lighter yard waste can be damaged by heavier items, such as sticks and rocks, left in piles of leaves or grass. Piles of yard waste should be placed at the edge of the front yard off the street pavement.
Staff reviewed current non-bond transportation projects and outlined funding strategies, including partnering with the state when possible, for those projects.
Council also discussed the town’s role and involvement in the Citizen of the Year award, including possible modifications to the selection committee for the Citizen of the Year award, and the Happy Holly Days Parade.
