The public is invited to join the Holly Springs Fire Department Friday, Sept. 11, at two brief ceremonies honoring those who lost their lives during the terrorist attacks in 2001 and those who continue the fight against terrorism.
The first ceremony begins at 9:30 a.m. at Fire Station 1 at 700 Flint Point Ln. The second ceremony begins at 10:15 a.m. at Fire Station 2 at 1140 Avent Ferry Rd.
Both events, led by local and Fire Department leaders, include a symbolic lowering of the American flag, singing of the national anthem, a candle lighting, and a moment of silence. A piece of steel from one of the World Trade Center Towers will be on display at Station 2.
"We hope everyone will take a few minutes to unite with us as we look back on the lives lost and forge ahead to provide the best protection for the residents and visitors to Holly Springs," said Holly Springs Fire Department Chief LeRoy Smith.
