Holly Springs ranks as the 7th best place in N.C. to land a job, joining three other Wake County towns that topped the list, according to a career resource Web site.
Zippia ranked 146 places in North Carolina with populations of at least 5,000 on criteria including unemployment rate, recent job growth, future job growth, sales tax, and median household income.
Anticipated strong future job growth and median household income pushed Holly Springs into the top 10. Cary, Apex and Wake Forest were at the top of the list, with 9 of the top 10 being towns that surround Charlotte or Raleigh.
“[T]hese places use their geographic proximity to big cities to their advantage,” Zippia said.
In another recent statewide ranking, Holly Springs topped a longest commute time list that also was dominated by suburbs of Charlotte and Raleigh. The rankings did not factor driving distance.
Although Holly Springs benefits from proximity to Research Triangle Park, co-workers in towns to the north including Apex and Cary are even closer. The Triangle Expressway toll road, which opened 2 ½ years ago, offers a quicker commute to those willing to pay for the convenience.
