Public Works crews have collected leaves throughout town four times since November and are hoping to complete a fifth sweep before Christmas.
The pace of collection depends on keeping the town's leaf-vacuuming trucks in working order. That's why the Public Works Department reminds homeowners to keep rocks and other debris out of leaf piles.
Public Works Director Luncie McNeil said crews are doing their best to finish the fifth collection before the town's Christmas holidays begin on Wednesday, Dec. 24.
"The intent is in our hearts," he said.
The town asks homeowners to pile leaves at the edge of the yard - behind the curb, but no more than 5 feet behind it. Try to keep leaves out of the street. It's especially important that they not clog storm drains.
