The Town is partnering with New Horizons Fellowship Church in Apex to brighten the holidays for children from families in need.
Visit the lobby of Town Hall at 128 S. Main St. to select Christmas tree tags with a child’s age and gender. The suggested price range for donated toys is $15 to $20. They should be brand new and still in the box.
Please return all unwrapped toys by Monday, Dec. 8.
Volunteers will pick up the gifts the following day and deliver them to New Horizons Fellowship for its Christmas “store.” It’s not a store in the commercial sense. Instead, parents of participating families will go there by appointment to pick out two or three gifts for their kids. Volunteers will greet them with holiday music, decorations and refreshments.
Last year, the Christmas Store brightened the holidays of more than 1,600 children.
Toys can be dropped off at Town Hall 8 a.m.-5 p.m. weekdays. After hours, toys can be dropped off at any of the town’s three fire stations from 5-8 p.m., unless firefighters are responding to a call. Make sure to hand the toy donation to a firefighter. The Fire Department also is participating in Toys for Tots, so let the firefighter know if the toy is intended for the Christmas Store or for Toys for Tots.
Please call the Town’s Human Resources Department at (919) 557-2922 with questions about town participation in The Christmas Store.
