The pedestrian bridge over Basal Creek is open, completing the loop trail at Bass Lake Park.
The 50-foot long bridge and 600-foot-long mulch walkway were the final pieces for the long-awaited completion of the trail around the lake. The bridge is next to Bass Lake Road, downhill from the picnic shelter.
“The bridge at Bass Lake Park is a great addition to the facility," said Adam Huffman, assistant director of Parks and Recreation. "It provides pedestrians with a scenic view of Basal Creek and a safe alternative to walking on Bass Lake Road."
The trail loop is nearly 2 miles long. Read more about Bass Lake trails.
Construction on the bridge began in the spring. The bridge and loop completion project cost approximately $300,000. In March, the Town Council awarded a $247,000 construction contract to McQueen Construction.
