Be among the first to subscribe to our new Town of Holly Springs TV channel on YouTube.
HSTV-11, our government access cable channel, is transitioning from the small screen of television to YouTube’s even smaller screen. But we are hoping the move will result in a big audience.
The move to YouTube, a popular online video showcase, is meant to give more people access to the town’s programming. We encourage readers to go to YouTube to subscribe to the Town of Holly Springs TV channel and see what we have for you. Go to www.youtube.com and type in a search for “town of holly springs tv” to find us. We would be grateful if you would add our channel to your list of subscriptions.
The Holly Springs YouTube channel is populated by more than 30 videos, and more are added each week. Shows are categorized into playlists, including one for HawksTV, which carries shows written, produced and edited by Holly Springs High School students for HSHS. Other playlists include Public Safety, Growth and Development, Meetings and more.
HSTV-11 was launched by the town five years ago. It has grown in content and quality. But the channel is losing viewers because in October 2013, Time Warner converted Channel 11 to a digital signal requiring an adapter to view the station. It was then that channel managers began looking for ways to make the video programming available to more people.
Now there are three ways viewers can see local TV shows.
Cable customers can continue tuning in to Channel 11 with a digital adapter. The adapters are a simple fix, and the small box is available by calling Time Warner.
Anyone can access our programming by going to the HSTV-11 section of the town’s Web site at www.hollyspringsnc.us and browsing through the selection.
And now there is YouTube, a more familiar and popular option for those who want video-on-demand.
HSTV-11 will continue to be broadcast on Time Warner and Deacon Cable channels 11. It carries interesting, entertaining and educational video coverage of local government meetings, programs, events and facilities.
Provided to the town by the cable companies, HSTV-11 in the beginning was available only to viewers who were cable company subscribers. Later, the town added a video section to the town’s Web site for satellite dish customers and those who wanted to watch our videos at any time of the day.
