[ARCHIVED] Report highlights demographics for prospective businesses

Holly Springs is ready for business with a dynamic, thriving community that is poised for the future. And we've got the numbers to show it.

The Town's Economic Development, planning and communications departments have produced the 2014 Demographic Profile, which is available online and at Town Hall. It includes statistics about the community that industrial and retail businesses want when deciding where to locate.

"We created a snapshot of our demographics to continue to promote Holly Springs as a prime location for business," said Irena Krstanovic, economic development coordinator with the Town.

Krstanovic emphasized that the report is geared toward businesses. (Click here to view the demographic profile.) Among the included statistics, one of the most noteworthy is the Town's education profile: 97.4 percent of residents have a high school diploma, 53.5 percent have a college degree or higher, and 16.7 percent have graduate or professional degrees.

"It shows, from the business standpoint, we have an educated workforce available," she said.

Krstanovic also noted that Holly Springs' 88 percent homeownership rate is the highest of any town in the county and significantly higher than the county and state averages. The Town's unemployment rate of 3.5 percent also is lower than the county average of 5.3 percent.

"It goes back to the workforce we have in Holly Springs," Krstanovic said. "Our residents are educated, employable and have expendable income. The goal of this demographic profile is to show businesses this is the right location for them, and these facts do support that."

Krstanovic noted that prospective industrial and retail businesses want to see a certain amount of rooftops and healthy growth in communities they are considering. In addition to the demographic profile, the Economic Development Department also recently released a video, "Holly Springs is Ready," which shows how the Town is primed for growth and maintains a quality of life that makes the Holly Springs special.
