[ARCHIVED] New Recycling Carts Delivered Week of Aug. 11

Waste Industries will deliver 96-gallon recycling carts the week of Monday, Aug. 11 in preparation for the switch to collection every other week.

The first collections under the new every other week schedule will occur the weeks of Aug. 18 and Aug. 25. Your collection day will remain the same.

The new carts are twice the size of those they are replacing.

Attached to the carts will be a plastic bag containing two pieces of information. One is a decal that you can attach to the cart if they wish. The decal will have lists of what can, and cannot, be recycled. The other piece of information is a service calendar for the remainder of 2014.

Waste Industries plans to collect your old cart when it delivers the new one or soon afterward. The goal is to finish delivery and retrieval in one week. In the weeks that follow, crews will retrieve carts from any homeowners who were out of town and handle any remaining issues with switchout.

The changes are part of a new 3-year contract with Waste Industries that prevented a solid waste fee increase July 1. Without the changes, the fee would have gone up by 2.7 percent.
