Momentary delays for some motorists are possible Saturday morning, July 19, as 600 bicyclists pass through western Holly Springs during the annual Triangle Triathlon. It begins and ends at Harris Lake County Park.
Riders will enter town on New Hill Road, turn right onto Green Oaks Parkway, and right again onto N.C. 55 Bypass. They will go south on N.C. 55 and turn right onto Avent Ferry Road to return to Harris Park.
No roads will close in Holly Springs. The Wake County Sherriff’s Department, which handles traffic control for the race, said traffic could be restricted momentarily as bicyclists pass through intersections. The event is expected to end by 11:30 a.m.
The Triangle Triathlon is much smaller than the last month’s Ironman Raleigh event, which had 2,900 bicyclists passing through Holly Springs. The Triangle Triathlon raises money for cancer research.
