[ARCHIVED] Reward Offered in Homicide Investigation

The Holly Springs Police Department is offering a reward of up to $2,500 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of whoever is responsible for the murder of Darin Greene, 49, of Apex.

Anyone with information in the homicide is asked to call Detective Minshew at (919) 567-4709.

Greene was shot to death and another man was wounded shortly before midnight March 23 at a house at 1313 New Hill Road.

Investigators believe robbery was the motive and that two or more assailants were involved.

Police Chief John Herring said the house, which is set back from the road, apparently was not chosen at random.

Officers have been to the house about 12-15 times over the past three years. Half or more of the calls were for various types of disturbances involving domestic disputes, larcenies, tenant/landlord disagreements, and disputes between people at the house. The remainder involved such things as 911 hang-ups.

A week after Greene was shot to death, officers handed out approximately 200 fliers seeking information in the case to motorists on New Hill Road.

Capt. Mike Bornes said police were working on several leads, but he did not say how the information was received.
