Entrepreneurship is a driving force in the economic success of Holly Springs. Holly Springs Economic Development staff have prioritized the support of entrepreneurs, knowing that having this type of infrastructure in place is crucial during economic downturns like we are experiencing today.
In 2017, Holly Springs became the first town in North Carolina to become a Certified Entrepreneurial Community and the town continues to attract entrepreneurs from all over the state, who are looking for the ideal environment to launch their unique and creative businesses.
“Entrepreneurs are the backbone of our community,” said Irena Krstanovic, Economic Development Director of Holly Springs. “Through the CEC program, Holly Springs has built an ecosystem that supports entrepreneurs, innovators, big thinkers and creative undertakers.”
That ecosystem involves connecting entrepreneurs, town leaders, local educational institutions, and industry experts who can help these businesses navigate the ups and downs of owning their own business.
Not every community spends the time or resources to make sure their smallest businesses have such a high level of support. Holly Springs decided that entrepreneurs were crucial to creating new and innovative job opportunities and the outreach has been a resounding success. In fact, in the newly renovated and expanded Downtown, Holly Springs now more than 100 small businesses and are poised to add even more as construction continues.
