"I was born and raised on a farm in Zimbabwe Africa, so farming comes natural for me. When I arrived in the US for aircraft mechanic school, my classmates asked me to cook them an African meal, so I decided to cook them my favorite curry stew. As I was cooking it I quickly could tell that the chicken was not going to cooperate. Due to hormones and preservatives the meat just fell apart and wouldn't allow me to do what I needed to do. When I was done it didn't taste like it should and so I was very disappointed."
"Years later when I moved to NC I decided to start farming and growing my own, and sure enough the meat that is grown hormone free taste just like the meat at home. With that the farm idea became realized in' 06 and then in '09 decided to start raising more to sell at the farmers market."
Along with their free-range eggs, Valley Love offers a wide range of chicken and pork products!
This week's Duke Progress Energy Spotlight Vendor is Great Harvest Bread!
"Tom and I along with our four children have a passion for the people we serve in our community. We love baking phenomenal bread for others. We want our fellow neighbors to enjoy bread in their homes, with their families, and at their special events. We have enjoyed serving our community for over 10 years.
"Our new expansion and location has allowed us to add sandwiches, salads, soups and new gluten free products. Our warm and inviting cafe has seating for 28 and room for small meetings, or a quiet place to work with FREE wifi and coffee refills!
"Our Great Harvest looks like no other Great Harvest out there. We operate under a “Freedom Franchise.” The “Freedom” part means that we get to run our business in a way that meets our community’s unique needs. The “Franchise” part gives us access to the recipes and processes that Great Harvest has continuously improved for over three decades. The result is breads and sweets that will knock your socks off!
"Several years ago we made the decision to pursue our dream. So, we said good-bye to Corporate America, kicked the suit and tie and are now up to our elbows in dough. We’re excited to bring this tradition to you, our neighbors and friends."
