Transportation Bond-Funded Project

Holly Springs Road WideningWidening Holly Springs Road from Flint Point Lane to Sunset Lake Road to a four-lane road with bike lanes and sidewalks. This project will increase road capacity ahead of the 540 interchange planned on Holly Springs Road. Also, upgrading bridge over Middle Creek will improve public safety as the current bridge area floods during heavy rain events.

  • Design consultant Kimley Horn is beginning to work on the traffic analysis, preliminary hydraulics design and preliminary roadway alignment.

Next steps: 

  • Spring 2019: Town Council approval of survey/design/permitting contract. (Holly Springs Town Council to consider design consultant at May 21 meeting.)
  • Summer 2019: Community engagement kick-off meeting
  • Fall 2020: Right of way acquisition
  • 2021: Construction begins

This project joins an already funded project to widen Holly Springs Road from Main Street to Flint Point Lane.

Also, the Town is seeking additional funding for a project to widen Holly Springs Road from N.C. 55 to Main Street.
