A new traffic light is nearly ready to go up at the intersection of Main and Ballentine streets. It will remain on flashing for a few weeks after installation, however.
Once the light is fully operating, the easternmost block of Ballentine beside the office condos on Raleigh Street will revert to two-way traffic.
However, the block of Ballentine between Main Street and Avent Ferry Road will remain one-way. With on-street parking on both sides, there isn't room to safely accommodate two travel lanes between Town Hall and the new mixed use project named Town Hall Commons.
Meanwhile, construction on Town Hall Commons and the associated roadwork and parking deck are nearing completion.
Avent Ferry Road behind the new building is expected to reopen in June after a final layer of asphalt and striping. The same goes for a realigned Rogers Street and for an extension running thrugh the development to connect with Avent Ferry Road.
Although the parking deck is not yet open, a Thai restaurant coming to Town Hall Commons has been allowed access to begin moving in.
