Downtown Building Development Plan Approved

At its Jan. 2 meeting, the Holly Springs Town Council approved a development plan for a 52,530-square-foot mixed-use building, part of the Town Hall Commons in downtown Holly Springs.

The council previously approved a plan for an adjacent 46,000-square-foot building. The two buildings, along with downtown parking, street and stormwater improvements, are part of the Town Hall Commons project.

Also at the meeting, the council approved an expansion at Hemlock Bluffs Animal Hospital off Sunset Lake Road. The expansion adds 1,155 square feet to the current 4,200-square-foot building, a 27.5 percent increase in gross floor area.

The council approved of entering into an infrastructure reimbursement agreement for construction of additional median along Main Street from Crossway Lane to Cayman Avenue in association with the Meineke project.

The council approved establishing a budget to construct a 200- to 250-person shelter on the Sugg Farm property. Amenities are to include a warming kitchen, fireplace, restrooms and parking. An $800,000 budget was established for the project.

The council directed staff to continue working on a project that involves partnering with the N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission to install a fishing pier at Veterans Park. The commission would install the pier at no cost to the town.

Also at the meeting, Parks and Recreation Director Len Bradley discussed the town’s anticipated acceptance of a 10,000-foot greenway constructed by the 12 Oaks subdivision developer.
