Villadsen Invited to Fill Vacancy on Holly Springs Town Council

At its Jan. 3 meeting, the Holly Springs Town Council invited Peter Villadsen to fill a vacancy on the council, effective Jan. 17. The seat will expire with the next election; Villadsen would serve until the person elected during the November 2017 municipal election is administered the oath of office. The vacancy was left as Councilwoman Linda Hunt Williams resigned in December after being elected to take office as a N.C. Representative.

Council recognizes Derek FoxAlso at the meeting, the council recognized Holly Springs resident and business owner Derek Fox (pictured), who ran more than 100 miles within 24 hours last month, raising more than $8,500 for medical bills of a local teenager who was critically injured in a traffic accident.

The council approved a joint use agreement and schedule with Hope Community Church on North Main Street that would allow the town to use the church’s high school-sized basketball facility and the church to use the town’s parking lot at the North Main Athletic Complex Sunday mornings.

The council also approved its 2017 meeting schedule. With the exception of July 4, the council will meet the first and third Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. in the Town Hall Council Chambers.

The council forwarded a Twelve Oaks development amendment to the town Planning Board. If approved, the amendment would reduce townhome setbacks while adding building detail and updating the landscape buffer along New Hill Road.
