Town of Holly Springs leaf and yard waste collection is getting more predictable. The town is launching a new collection schedule for prime leaf season, November through January.
During this time, leaf and yard waste collection for Holly Springs residents will be every other week on the day indicated on the schedule. In previous years, collection did not follow a set schedule during prime leaf season. Please check the schedule at www.hollysprignsnc.us/yardwaste because your collection day may have changed.
“As the town grows, so has our leaf and yard waste collection demand,” said Assistant Town Manager J. Scott Chase. “In order to continue to provide a high level of service and give our customers a predictable schedule for pickup, we are adjusting our schedule to meet demand.”
Chase urged residents to help keep collection running smoothly.
“Be a good neighbor,” he said. “Place yard waste out for collection only on your scheduled week, and don’t let leaves block the road or storm drains.”
Other tips include:
- Keep different types of yard waste separate for efficiency of collection. The vacuum truck that collects lighter yard waste can be damaged by sticks.
- Place leaves out for collection only on your scheduled week.
- Place piles of leaves off the street and away from storm drains. This helps keep streets clean and safe for travel, helps prevent clogged drains and flooded roads, and protects our environment by preventing fertilizers from contaminating local waterways.
For residents who hire professionals to work on their yards, Holly Springs town ordinance states that the town will not collect yard waste created by landscapers and tree service contractors.
