60 Seconds or Less
Just like a popular TV game show, teams of two participants have 60 seconds to complete a task and move on to the final round, competing against other teams to win prizes. Teams watch each other and try to learn from others' mistakes. Teams of two are required to participate. Please preregister at least 30 minutes before the event. Friends and family can watch and cheer on teams at no charge.

Discovering Dinosaurs
Do you know what a fossil is? Come and learn how archaeologists dig up dinosaurs to study them. Learn what dinosaurs might have roamed the area where we now live. Fun crafts and explorations are geared for ages six and older. Each child must be accompanied by an adult. Preregistration is required.

Find out what goes “hoot” in the night.

In the Park after Dark
Join the Bass Lake Park Naturalist for some stargazing and paddling in the park after dark! After a short astronomy lesson, we take out the boats and enjoy a view of the stars that is out of this world! Sign up as a family or group. Canoes hold up to two adults and one child. Johnboats with oars hold up to four adults. Space is limited.

Lake Dipping
Aquatic ecosystems are a fun place to discover animals. Come learn what animals live in Bass Lake Park, from the big birds to the small bugs. Enjoy hands-on investigation to catch and see animals up close and in person. Geared for ages three and up. Each child must be accompanied by an adult. Preregistration is required.

Fishing Basics
Fishing is a great way to spend time with your children and family. Come out and learn basic fishing skills that include baiting hooks, rigging a pole, casting, handling fish on the line and much more. Each child must be accompanied by an adult. Preregistration is required!

North Carolina Animals
Learn about local animals that you could encounter on hikes through the forests of North Carolina. Hear neat facts and information about 12 local animals, and get a chance to feel their fur and take a close look at each animal. Geared for ages six and older, younger children also are welcome. Each child must be accompanied by an adult. Preregistration is required.

Summer Work Crew
This program gives teens ages 14-16 the opportunity to get involved in their community, obtain valuable paid work experience, build resumes, and gain new skills and knowledge. Click here for more information.

Bass Lake Park Summer Camp
At Bass Lake Park, campers participate in nature activities, boating, fishing and more. Each week has a different nature theme. Four week-long camps are offered for ages 8-10 and 11-13.
